Long overdue, here is the first-ever Massage: Delivered blog post!

If you are new to our business, please peruse our website , Facebook , and Twitter pages for a sense of how awesome we are! Yes, I am biased.

Let me introduce myself. I am Lindsay Harvey, the founder and owner of Massage: Delivered. I have been a Licensed Massage Therapist for over ten years, and launched this business nearly five years ago.  Throughout my life, even back to early childhood, I have had a strong desire and longing to help others.  As a massage therapist, I know I do this every day.  Clients come to me for relief of pain, or to feel better in their bodies.  Massage can help alleviate an astonishing array of ailments and issues.  As my practice grew, and my contact with clients and other great therapists expanded, I had the good fortune of having more work than I could handle as a sole practitioner.  The decision was a natural next step to create something bigger and wider-reaching.

Why start a business? Well, the other driving aspect in my life has been ambition.  When I realized toward the end of Junior High School that it looked like I was going to be ranked at the top of my class, I marched right into the High School Guidance Counselor’s office and informed him that I was going to be the Valedictorian of my High School class.  Such confidence for a teenager!  And with a ton of hard work and lost sleep due to studying all night and putting in the extra effort, I accomplished this goal. I don’t share this story to sound overly showy, in fact I am very modest.  I share this part of my history with you because it is something that will always be with me, inside of me, as a driving force and a “will” to succeed.  I have never really been a “natural” at anything I have attempted.  I have worked hard and had to really try and push and learn in order to accomplish the goals I have set for myself.

With Massage: Delivered, I can realize my goal of expansion, and can also help more clients and more therapists get the relief and the work that they need. Plus, the business name is really good, right?  When I was trying to come up with a concept, I realized that the Capital District had plenty of spas and massage offices, but there was literally NOTHING that specialized in onsite massage services. We wanted to fill a gap in the market.

When brainstorming business names, many of the names that included the word “mobile” were already taken as far as the website URL.  I certainly didn’t want to spend big bucks buying out someone else’s web name if I didn’t have to!  As a sidebar influence, I have always loved the Mission: Impossible movies, and thought the way that title flashed across the screen really says it all.  When I put the two words together separated by a colon:  Massage: Delivered, it really stood out and conveys that “mission” and ambition.  Unbelievably, when we looked into the website availability, the .com, .net, and .org addresses were ALL available for easy purchase!  That sealed the deal.  My sister created the graphic logo from a drawing a scrawled out on scrap paper, and thus, our logo was born:  MassageDelivered logo

The delivery concept was and is unique and much-needed, because there are so many applications.  While we began by focusing on providing onsite massage at upscale hotels and chair massage for corporate offices, we quickly expanded to provide home visits, spa parties, weddings, actual spa or office locations who need a sub massage therapist for the day, senior living facilities, sporting events, and so much more. Additionally, society seems to be running on such a high-speed, with no time to even think about driving, parking, etc for their massages, we take all of that hassle and stress out of the equation: We come to you!

And there you have it folks, the dream and the vision manifesting into reality.  My work is absolutely unfinished, and I have even bigger dreams and goals to accomplish.  However, there has to be a “beginning” in order to take a step toward “future.” I look forward to a long successful run with this, and with you.

Until next time – be well,

  1. Thank you for your will and drive. In what can be a difficult industry, you’re a blessing! Can’t wait to see how the blog develops.

  2. Looking forward to read more of your blogs. 🙂

  3. You have a great concept, and I like the fact that you are a local company, not some big uncaring national chain. I have this site bookmarked, and I’m looking forward to more posts!
